Fostering statewide professional connections and supporting FCCM fellowship advancement.

The FCCM mentor-mentee matching process is open for enrollment until October 15, 2024. The Nominations Committee will match participants based on profession, critical care practice area, and location. Matched pairs will be notified by email, and it will be the mentee’s responsibility to initiate contact and establish a plan for ongoing communication.

Process for Mentor- Mentee Matching

  • Enrollment survey open through October 15, 2024
  • Matching facilitated via the Nominations Committee with focus on key factors:
    • Profession
    • Area of critical care practice
    • Location
  • Matched mentor-mentees will be informed via email
    • Mentee is responsible for initiating contact with the goal of establishing plans for future communication

Mentee Qualifications

  • Member of SCCM Florida Chapter

Mentee Requirements if Applying for Fellowship

  • Be an active member of SCCM for at least 2 years immediately prior to application
  • Have five years of post-training involvement in the field of critical care
  • Be licensed (if license available) to practice in a healthcare category in the U.S. or Canada. If applying as a physician member, then must be U.S. board certified
  • Have a certificate of special competence in critical care or its equivalency, as determined by the category of your application
  • Have devoted at least 50% of time to critical care in practice, research, administration, or teaching for at least two years prior to applying to ACCM
  • Be able to demonstrate a collaborative model of critical care, in which the efforts of several disciplines are coordinated to provide optimal patient care
  • Have made significant contributions to the perception, delivery, or management of the critically ill in the three areas of Program Development, Scholarly Contributions, and Leadership
  • Be sponsored by two individuals, at least one of whom is an active ACCM Fellow, who can substantiate the professional history and outstanding merit of the applicant, with particular emphasis on areas of demonstrated excellence and leadership in a collaborative model of critical care

Mentor Qualifications

  • Member of SCCM Florida Chapter
  • Fellow of American College of Critical Medicine (if mentoring someone with primary goal to apply for fellowship)

Responsibilities of Mentors and Mentees

  • Initial contact
    • Mentee should contact mentor within 2 weeks of receiving the initial match
    • Frequency and method of meetings/ communication should be established
    • CVs should be shared with the mentor and mentee
  • Primary goal of the relationship should be communicated
  • Give feedback, if needed or requested, to assess strengths and opportunities for the program.
